Game Description

Released, December 2021

Disembodied is a 2D/3D blended narrative time loop escape game in which users play as a disgruntled father, trapped in a hell of his past sins. The player is tasked with collecting items hidden in the game environment in order to interact with items scattered across the different rooms. This allows the player to progress through the game and find the keycode to escape the house before the timer hits 0. Locate items by uncovering clues and exploring the game world; certain items are necessary for progressing in the game and revealing more aspects of the narrative. By piecing together bits of dialogue and game imagery, the player will be able to find the code to escape. A keypad by the living room door will enable the player to escape the house and end the game loop if the proper code is inputted.

Breakdown

As the Project Lead, I led the overall vision for the game design and direction for the gameplay, story, and purpose behind Disembodied.

With this project, we wanted to create an experience that encapsulates an underlying tone of sorrow and tragedy. We aimed to create a horror escape game that is influenced by a narrative driven environment, and through interactivity and critical thinking, the player would be immersed in the world of our characters, learning the backstory and main lore of our game.
